Hello, and welcome to the official home page of photographer Thomas Schoeller. Thomas is a freelance professional, and currently resides in the scenic "Litchfield Hills" tucked neatly into the Northwest corner of Connecticut. Thomas began his artistic endeavors in the mid-1980's. A Musclecar enthusiast, his burning passion to capture the powerful lines and aura of the late 60's era performance cars led him to learn the photographic skills to take him to another level. Tom would settle for nothing less than the examples set by the very best automotive photographers in the business. Those same photographers which graced the pages of magazines and calendars.
Thomas was soon to incorporate his love of photography into Scenic Landscapes, Nature and Travel photography. His family uprooted from Queens NY to the more idyllic country environs of Litchfield County Connecticut in the early 1970's. He would often sketch the bucolic mountain and farmscapes of this new environment that would become such a huge impact on how Tom views the world around him. Photography would replace sketch art as the means which to record, then as his skills advanced to begin creating meaningful artwork from behind the lens. Thomas always challenges himself for every photoshoot, for every composition asking aloud "How do I invite the viewer into this scene?", or "Do I have appropriate lighting and atmospheric conditions to create a thought provoking image?"
The vast body of Thomas' work has been capturing the essence of his native New England and surrounding scenic landscapes. Using natural light, he artfully composes rustic farmscapes and bucolic scenes as well as creating some of the most beautiful Fine Art Nature prints of any contemporary photographer. Thomas has not let the boundaries of his native New England stop him, he continues to travel to the Great Smoky Mountains, Blue Ridge country and the magnificent Rocky Mountains of the American West to add to an already impressive body of work.
By around 2003, Thomas found himself obsessed in a whole new way with photography. The digital age had fully taken over and he embraced the technology to take his skills to an even higher level. His work flourished, finding himself flooded with request for permission to Publish his work for magazines and many other uses. Today he finds himself a well published photographer. His works having been used by "Yankee Magazine" for their online edition 75th anniversary and article "25 Best Towns to view foliage in New England" and the article "Connecticut Country" which his popular selling "Tanner's Farm" image was published by "National Geographic's Traveler Magazine". October '10 was a very busy time for Tom, as his work was published in an article which ran the major media network including "The Atlanta Constitution", "The Houston Chronical", USA Today and even the "Miami Herald". He was interviewed for an artical released by the NY Times titled "Photo tips for Autumn Leaves". This was a brief instructional guide for those tourist visiting the New England region during the fall foliage season. Tom has also been published for various Travel Guides, Environmental calendars and even by Sterling Books "Sacajawea-Crossing the Continent with Lewis and Clark" by Emma Carlson Bernes.
